MWC Release
GRINNELL, Iowa – Illinois College sophomore goalkeeper Ty Clearwater of the men's soccer team was named First Team All-Midwest Conference on Thursday by a vote of the conference's head coaches.

Clearwater tied for the MWC lead in 2015 with five shutouts and had a conference-best .814 save percentage for the season. In his first full season of starting duties in between the posts for Illinois College, Clearwater was a game-changing force for the Blueboys. He played the most minutes of any goalkeeper in the conference, starting all 18 matches and racking up just under 1,700 minutes on the field. In that time, he made 96 saves and compiled a 1.17 goals-against average.

"I am incredibly proud of Ty," said Head Coach Kurt Albrecht. "He was one of the guys that came into the season fully prepared to compete for everything this Fall. He is a top-class goalkeeper and was our backbone this year. He is one of the best goalkeepers that I have been around in a very long time and I'm excited he is with us for another two years."

With Clearwater in goal, the Blueboys put together a 9-7-2 record in 2015, highlighted by a 9-2-0 start that included a Mayor's Cup win over MacMurray and an emotion-fueled victory against Knox.

Clearwater and four other starters will return for IC in 2016 as the Blueboys look to rise from their seventh place finish in the MWC this past season.

Congratulations Ty!!
