Welcome Springfield Academy of Sports Fitness

 For those of  you that don't know me, let me introduce myself.  My name is Randy Strode and my son is Lucas.  I am a federal agent with ATF and am also the owner of the Springfield Academy of Sports Fitness.  I also previously coached at SASA for about three years.  Unfortunately, you won't  be seeing Lucas much this fall as he picked up a fairly severe preseason injury and is currently on crutches.

 
This year the Academy is teaming up with the SASA U12 and U13/U14 boys teams to provide structured fitness training.  I will be providing four training sessions this fall and four training sessions in the spring.  My preference is to have at least 8 sessions per season (16 per year), but this is a great start.  We completed the first session last week that focused on core strength as well as upper and lower body strength.  The second session (Thursday) will focus on lateral movement and lateral speed and the third session will focus on forward and reverse speed.  The last session will be a combination of the previous three sessions.
 
In addition to providing fitness training, I will also be focusing on stretching and warm up/cool down.  These elements are just as important as the fitness training itself.  It is important for the boys to take this seriously as it will help in the prevention of injuries.  These are not just training sessions, but learning experiences as well.  It is my hope that the boys will learn the stretches and some of the fitness exercises so they can work on them on their own and utilize the stretches prior to and after practices and games.

August 1st (first Practice) 7:00-8:15 Field 7

We will start practice this upcoming Monday August 1st at 7:00pm-8:15 at SASA field 7. Wednesday we will go from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and no practice Thursday due to the golf outing. The week of August 8th our regular scheduled practices will start.

1)     Training Schedule

a)      U13/14 Cup teams practice 3 days a week for 1 ½ hours a session (train for 1 ¼  hours then ~15 minutes of core strength/ balance/ or agility work)
b)     Please let Chuck and/ or Gurel know if your son is involved with other activities that limit training on certain days of the week ASAP
c)      Training Schedule Starting week of August 8th:
i)       Monday’s 6:00pm-7:30 August 1st (first Practice) this practice will be at 7:00pm
ii)     Wednesday’s 6:00pm-7:15
iii)   Thursday’s 6:00pm – 7:30
d)     Please bring plenty of water for training, cleats, and shin guards. Monday’s all players need to wear the blue tryout jersey to train in.
