Fill out recruiting profiles

A great way to get started with recruiting is to fill out a school’s college recruiting profile. A profile is a form that collects information about the student-athlete to give the coaches a base of players to recruit from.

All D3 schools and some D2 schools have the profile form on their athletics website. D1 and some D2 and NAIA schools may not have a form if they are more selective in their recruiting.

You have to search to find it on each school's athletics website. Here’s an example of how to find the recruiting profile form on the Illinois College website:

  1. Go to https://www.ic.edu/
  2. Click on Menu, then click on Athletics on the bottom.  This will take you to https://illinoiscollegeathletics.com/
  3. Hover over Student-Athletes at the top right, then click on Prospective Athlete Form
  4. Click on Men’s Soccer or Women’s Soccer
  5. Fill out the form

Information you should have available in case the form ask for them:

  • Your soccer coach’s name, email, and phone number
  • Your class rank, GPA, and test scores, if you have them
  • A PDF of your unofficial school transcript

If you don’t have the information, that’s ok, fill in what you have.

Don’t be surprised if the school does not contact you as a result of filling in the form.  This step just gets your name on the school’s list so they know who you are when you finally make contact with the coaches.
