Aiming high? Start Freshman year

Do you love soccer?  Do you think you may want to play soccer at the D1 level?

Then you need to get started with the recruiting process as early as freshman year of high school.

“Around freshman and sophomore year is when players should be looking into colleges, going to ID camps at colleges, and emailing colleges your interest.” says former SASA and SIU-Edwardsville player Becca Jostes.

It may seem crazy for a 14-year-old to start the recruiting process for college soccer. But the competition for D1 roster spots is fierce, and D1 college coaches usually have their recruiting classes selected by the start of junior year.

Of course you need the game to back up your aspirations.  Training, skill development, and challenging yourself by competing against the best competition are necessities to reach the D1 level.

SASA is committed to fielding teams that can compete with the best talent.  SASA Blue teams regularly compete against the top teams in St. Louis in the SLYSA league.  And SASA now partners with Peoria FC United and Illinois Fire Juniors to field regional teams via Central Illinois United (boys) and Eclipse Select Central Illinois (girls).
