U.S. Soccer is implementing changes to player registration (Birth year vs School year) starting in the fall of 2026. After gathering feedback from over 15,000 soccer participants, U.S. Soccer has decided to give leagues more flexibility in organizing player registration based on local needs.

Key highlights include:

• Flexible Registration Options: Starting in 2026, leagues will have the option to choose between birth year or school year registration for players.
• No Change for 2025-2026: There will be no immediate change for the upcoming season, giving time for clubs to prepare for any possible changes.
• Support for Transition: U.S. Soccer will provide resources, webinars, and best practices to guide members through any transitions.
