Letter from DOC Max to SASA

Dear SASA,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this note to you. Having had a wonderful time representing SASA as director of coaching, I am announcing that I will be stepping down from my position. I recently accepted the position of assistant Women's soccer coach for Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. It was not an option that I was actively pursuing, but one that is a fantastic opportunity both personally and professionally.

In making the decision, it was extremely difficult having built and cultivated so many wonderful relationships in the time I was here. For this reason, I am so very grateful to you for the time, effort and support you gave. In looking back, we started with a vision of building on the history of SASA to create a future founded through its mission and purpose - To be the Premier club in the region, to be focused on the development of our players whilst also making a positive impact in our community. I feel that TOGETHER we have begun the journey toward making this a reality. But I also believe that the journey has many more great things in store for the Club. So as I move forward in my personal journey, I wish you and SASA continued success on your journey living each and every moment through our core values - Passion, Pride, Loyalty, Unity.

One of my favorite movies of all time is "Hitch" starring Will Smith. In the movie, he relates what can only be described as my mantra for life: "Don't count the number of breaths you take. Count the number of moments that take your breath away"

I will be stepping down from my position effective May 1. In the time left I look forward to sharing many more great moments and will always look back on these with gratitude, and be thankful for the moments we shared together!

Sincerely,
Max Rooke
