Unsung Heroes Tourney comes to Springfield

Annual Unsung Heroes Soccer Tournament Comes to Springfield SPRINGFIELD, IL. — The Springfield Police and Fire Departments are teaming up with Unsung Heroes Soccer Organization to host this years annual Outdoor Soccer Tournament at Spartan Sports Park, 7250 Ironbridge Road, on May 22 through May 24, 2014.

Admission for the games is $10 for the weekend or $5 for single day admission. All proceeds from the tournament will be distributed to families of fallen or injured first responders.

The participants for this year’s annual tournament are first responders from all over the Midwest, coming together in “Unity in Brotherhood,” to support their fallen friends. “This is more than just soccer games,” said Robert, an Unsung Heroes volunteer. “It is a chance to make a difference and to show those who protect us that we support their efforts.” Teams will be traveling from across the area to fight for the title. Participating teams will be coming from St Louis, Kansas City, Illinois, and Norfolk, Virginia.

About the Unsung Heroes: UHSO is an athletic fundraising organization based out of St. Louis, Missouri that began in 2009.
